The tragedy of the London bombings got covered on WikiNews within minutes of the incidents and the story was continually developed by grass root journalists throughout the day.
What strikes me is the large portion of "News You Can Use" contained in the report. The story has a segment with hot line numbers and one that tallies up the implications of the bombings for traffic in the London area. This is indeed strong, usable news reporting.
WikiNews is often seen as less credible than traditional on line media. But credibility is not a token that you can carry with you. it is a relational matter and has to be established in each communicational act. In this case I would say that the Wiki-reporting wins credibility by linking to the sources of the story.
